love works #4 [judge by the cover]

Photobucket

My dear dreamers,

These last days I've been working on a cover for a friend's poetry book, Rogério Prado Mendonça. It is entitled "Sobre o Amor e Outras Coisas Amargas", which in English is something like "About Love and Other Bitter Stuff". A series of sad and touching poems, which, I believe, everyone will address to.

Here's a sample of his work:
Suddenly she moves,
then all things become silence
We hear only the music of their muscles,
the battery of her heart
the song for her steps
While she dances every gesture she makes is a kiss and a slap,
each gesture is joy and sadness,
each gesture is love and indifference (but mostly love)
When she dances the perfection of her body defies the gravity,
and the gravity surrenders
When she dances her gestures and her smile are cathedrals,
cathedrals suspended in movement and beauty
While she dances her eyes shed darkness and stars on the audience,
and her hair, taken by the movement, shoots galaxies into the void
Suddenly the music stops,
Suddenly the movement stops
The audience suffers for a moment with the end of the movement,
then bursts into applause
She smiles a powerful smile and then leaves the scene,
taking with her all those hearts

The movement, by Rogério Prado Mendonça

breathing #9 [earth day is everyday]

My dear dreamers,

Yesterday was the Earth day and I acted accordingly. I did not plant a tree as I wished but I turned this blog into a greener place (haha literally too!). I hope you'll like it and enjoy to spend here a little more of your time.

I'll explain you all the details of the logo and the colours I chose for the blog, as I want you to understand why it is the way it is. There will be some more things that will be changed as the RSS and the about designing dreams&me and Facebook page, for example. If you have any suggestions drop them on the comment's box. It will be much appreciated.

So... as you can see the logo is representing two leafs with the two D's together, one white and a gold one that is turning into green. The first leaf represents the perfection I want to achieve. And because...

White is a color, the perception of which is evoked by light that stimulates all three types of color sensitive cone cells in the human eye in nearly equal amounts and with high brightness compared to the surroundings. A white visual stimulation will be void of hue and grayness. Wikipedia
You know I love colours!

The second leaf is what will lead me to that goal. Memories are fine to remember and to learn with but we need to move on and do something with the day we have in hands. Gold turning into green is the representation of a new life, a new opportunity to turn yourself into a better you and gaining an award for each golden leaf you shifted from.

And...the background: black and green. Black gives us a negative feeling most of the times, but it's here to save power. Black doesn't need as much energy as the other colours as it is the absence of light. And green, well it's obvious, it represents nature, hope and this wonderful Universe we live on.

It's now time to be inspired by the wonders of nature, follow me into this whole new world < along with the soundtrack. (Click on the images to go to the source.)

It's all about being you

Hey! I'm back! Did you miss me?

So, I've a lot of news to tell you. I'm very excited to get back to this sweet home of mine and tell you what I've been doing lately. I sure missed my readers...

Today's post will be a little introspective, closing the doors of the past and open new ones to the present. I hope you'll not get bored but it's something I need to do. You'll see new changes around here (good ones) and more accordingly to the person I am today.

2012 started really well. I didn't achieve all my goals yet, but I accomplished some important things already. I'm starting to deeply know myself - I feel I'm blooming and be the person I always wanted to be. Four important things happened in my life that contributed to that and I'm very glad to be lucky enough to have this opportunity. I'm happier, healthier and smarter.

My diet is almost, almost on its end. I have the weight I desired for so long but there's still extra meat that I want to get rid off. Finally I feel good on my skin - beautiful and sexy. :)

That formation of former's course I told you about is over and I finished it successfully. I met a loads of wonderful people from every kind of backgrounds and I learnt a lot with them. I also have to say that my communication skills are much better (I worked intensively, since reading out loud while walking around the house to making silly faces on the mirror). I also feel much better when talking to a crowd. I really enjoyed giving a lesson about personal marketing in the end of the course and acknowledge that people were enjoying what I had to say. It made me feel special.

I'm still learning Mandarin and you know what? It isn't as difficult as people claim, you just need persistence and a good memory. Training every day helps you too.

As you know, I've been penpalling since December and it's a hobby I'm really enjoying. It's incredible how you can discover yourself by communicating with others and see in them a (big) part of you. I met inspiring, kind and intelligent people that taught me what confidence is all about. That was all I needed.

I also need to thank you for following me and my blog, supporting us with your comments and thoughts. It means a lot to me and I'm happy to have you in my life.

changing is good

So, designing dreams is facing some changes. I want this blog to have a more professional look and to be more organized. To gain more readers too, it really needs that. To achieve this objectives, I created #10 category posts, each one attributed to a specific day of the week. I know we only have 7 days a week but some of them are random, as you'll see.

Let me introduce you to the new designing dreams' posts. If you'd like to see other kind of posts let me know and I'll find a way to include them as well:

Since Mondays are the first day of work, and we feel lazy (so lazy), I'll give you a push with some inspirational images, videos and/or quotes to make you feel better. It will be the day of breathing. Wanna breath with me?

Featuring will happen at Tuesdays. In this day I'll present you works of artists I admire. It could be fashion, packaging design, illustration or any other work of art. Nothing new, right?

You know I care about this world and that I feel that design should be sustainable. That's why eco design will bright your Wednesdays. I'll give you tips about sustainable objects and how you can save the world through design. Go green with me!

And here come Thursdays! I bet you're already thinking of the weekend so I'll go easy on you, so easy that you'll have the word. I took the idea from Reader Appreciation Monday by Profresh Style. The thing is: you e-mail me your suggestions and I feature them in my blog and of course I'll give you the credit. This one will be called knock on my door. But since my blog has still a few readers, Thursdays needs a double post. That's when trial and error comes. A selection of tutorials regarding Photoshop and Illustrator. Are you excited about this?

And at Fridays... my treasured inner-view! Why? Because I get to know the work "behind-the-scenes" and the artists themselves. It's pretty cool!

Now we get to the weekend. Finally! I'll post on weekends as well. Yeah, with me there's no rest. But since I like to have time for myself and my loved ones weekends will be full of random posts (the here and there): stuff I think it's funny or anything like that. Sometimes I'll post about nature as well (named as by nature). It's a great passion of mine so you'll have to deal with it. ;)

Love works was created so I can post my own works and build a portfolio in my own blog, whenever I'll have a new work it will be posted. No matter the day of the week.

Once a month I would love to have a guest post (be my guest). Don't know if anyone will be interest, though. Will see.

What do you think about these changes?

it's sunny inside

My sweet readers,

I'm happy to say that Heel in Mint gave me the Sunshine Award and what I have to do is:

1) Thank the person who gave you this award and link back to them in your post. (done)

2) Tell us something about yourself: My favourite band is Nightwish (and I prefer Tarja among Anette).
I prefer sunrises to sunsets, I found it more beautiful and also because it's a new beginning.

3) Nominate 10 bloggers. And they are...

Stay tuned because in a couple of minutes I'll introduce you to an awesome feature!

some news

Valentina
by Adrian Prada (Colombia), via flickr
Hi everyone!

Today I'm here to share the love. I don't know if you noticed but I added two more pages to my blog: i ♥ you and I'm delicious!

The first one is to show the blogs I appreciate (idea came from Wolf and Willow), so if your blog has a button feel free to share. The second one is a badge from delicious (if you also have an account add me) to share the links I add to my favourites. I hope you like them.

Soon I'll make my own button, but first I'll change my logo: I know I can do a better work. What do you think?

that's so me!

You can't find a clumsier person than me, I'm so silly! I want to apologize to everyone that was/is visiting my blog and left their comments without any response from me. I only saw them today because of a conversation with Tereza (thank you girl).

Usually I receive the comments on my e-mail but I guess I didn't set-up the definitions for that... But now everything's all right: I replied to everyone and I'm so happy that I have readers after all! Thank you. :)

Let's celebrate!

news

Hi everyone!

I just want to let you know that I won't be writing in a daily basis anymore. I want my blog to be a little more profound and analyse the best designs our world has to offer, that includes a lot of time and research . I think one post per week can do the job.

For the next subject I'll talk about one of the genius of the 16th century. Probably your tired of hearing about him, but maybe I can give it a little twist. And remember that without him we wouldn't have less than a half than we have today. I'm talking about Leo, the designer, the inventor, the architect, the mathematician, the scientist, the engineer, the anatomist, the musician, the painter, the sculptor, the botanic and the poet.

This drawing was the pioneer of the helicopter.

re-designing

Hi!

Just wanted to say that I've updated the homepage of designing dreams. All the software I can work with and my skills are organized in a cloud-ish pattern, so I can show you how comfortable I am with each one.

Soon I'll adjust the rest of the blog.

See you! <3
