[here and there #15] dead-end

Dead end by Alshain4 on DeviantArt

When I think about my grandfather, I think about death. Maybe that's why, on this Era, we treat old people so bad. We don't want to see them, we don't want to hear them, we don't want to be them. Because we know, sooner or later, we'll be dead as well.

But death has no age. She's the perfect human being, actually. She doesn't distinguish between babies and grown-ups, boys or girls, Catholics or Muslims, the black from the white. The only certainty we have make us tremble, and yet we fear the uncertainty. As we never know when our time is to come.

Death always made me shiver. And I never believe when someone says to me they aren't afraid of it. Of her. They're just hiding in a time capsule, telling themselves they have still much time to think about it. To deal with it. We haven't.

Death is all around us. We hear it on the news every day, every second. But the death of those others are meaningless to us. We don't feel their pain. We feel compassion only for a few seconds, and then forget. When someone close to us die, we suffer for days, months and years. But once we get used to it, we forget it too. Our escape is our daily routine.

I'm not really afraid of dying. I'm afraid of remaining dead for eternity. Eternity is a long time, too much time. Eternity scares me no matter the shape it takes.

I wonder if there really is a time, or just an illusion we made for ourselves. The "now" is the only thing that seems real. My past, my memories are only on my brain, how can I be sure I captured it fully? (That's impossible...) They are just images mixed with emotions, too much similar with the ones I get from films and books and dreams. So alike that sometimes I get confused: I forget which ones were real and which were fiction. Well, they're all fiction now, anyway. And future... who knows there is one? I might not be here on the next very second. Eventually, the next second won't exist. The next second always makes me crumble. Nice play of words, isn't it? The next second is an empty void. My black-hole.

When I'm with my grandfather, I want to collect all his stories. They're a precious treasure for me. I don't know how much time he has for me, to share his world with me.

I never got to know him, I'm afraid I never will. My only grandfather. My family doesn't talk much about themselves, only a few happenings here and there. However, they're never enough to grasp their identity, their unique personality. I don't know who my grandfather is. And when I say my grandfather, I'm saying my mother and my father. My sisters and my cousins. My uncles or other relatives. When I say I don't know my own family, I'm saying I don't know a big part of myself: my history.

Maybe that's why we invented time. To know our history or inventing it as we please. Maybe we invented time in a strike of being immortals. Maybe that's why we do anything: to be what we never can - alive for eternity. That also scares me - to be alive eternally.

It will be perfect to switch between life and death. (But nothing is perfect, is it?) To have the chance to be another person and another being.

I'm wondering if there's a limit one can explore themselves: if we can reach our full potential at all sides, if we can know ourselves in all dimensions and situations. But, on the other hand, will that make sense? Is that a valid purpose for one's life? Will that mean live in eternity in a single body and soul? And do we have just one soul?

Life goes by really fast, terribly fast (and yet we get bored!). I'm almost 31 one years old and I didn't do half the things I want yet. I know many of my dreams won't see the light of day (or night) and I'm OK with that. Sort of. But it also feels I could have done more. I still have time (or have I?), let's start doing them!

At my teen years, I was very angry at death. I wanted to kill her. I lived in constant fear, insomniac. All my writing was about her. She was my muse. Ironic. She lived inside me when I didn't want her to meet me at all. Oh, but she knows me very well.

And I do want to meet her, I just don't want to be her. (Now I have this image on my head, of death as millions of people running after you.) Yes, I'd like to know how it feels to die. I want to know what being dead means, not what I suppose it is. Something like that episode of Dr. House. If death was another form of consciousness, I would have no problem at all to embrace it.

Although being a spooky subject, I have the necessity of talking about this happening that makes part of life, without making part of it. That destroys it while making space to create it. It's my way of understanding it, of taking away the fear. Even if I won't sleep at night after doing it. Or fill my mind with questions and fall asleep by exhaustion.

There are only two poetics sides of death, as I see it. The fact that everything comes from and goes to the same place (We Are All Made of Stars). And that we're sacrificing ourselves in order to others can experience this amazing gift. Right now, I'm thinking that my death will give room for my son to grow.

Even death has its good side, it appears. And eternity is a long time. They also say hope is the last thing to die. As long there's hope, anything can be possible. Maybe we will find a way of being dead, and yet to be alive (and not in a metaphorical way).

We live by choices. The only thing we can't choose is to stay alive. We can't choose to not die. However, we can decide how we want to live, we can decide how much we enjoy life. No matter for how much time we live, we can always take the most out of it. If it weren't death, will we experience life the best we could? Would it be such a precious gift? Would it be as wonderful to our eyes as it is now? Remember, the only thing worst than dying is to be already dead, while still alive.

The absolution of death creates the magic of life. Full stop.

(And while you're thinking about this, listen to my playlist having death as the main character. She's always here, no matter how you try to scare her away.)

[here and there #14] closed worlds

At this time you already know how I feel about labels. And for me, feminism is a label like any other. Yes, feminism, that F-word that makes people either scared, roll her eyes, fight or just run away from it.

Nowadays there's no point being one. Well, at least, on developed countries. No, developed isn't the right expression. In a world where women are educated enough to know their value, feminism has no place. Because we see ourselves as equal to men. But wait, do men see women as equal? And do we really behave like equals? Don't we still give different toys to boy and girls? Don't we have different responsabilities at our homes, jobs and social lives?

Now, I'm not so sure where I stand. Yes, we need to embrace our differences, because there are differences. But yes, we also need to find our place here. We still live in a men's world. Being a woman doesn't mean to be weak or soft or caring. Being a man doesn't mean to be strong, careless, or cold-hearted. Every human needs affection.

I also see many VIP people saying they aren't feminists, but humanists. It's like they're afraid of the word, or the negativity implied (which one, I ignore). However, that's changing one label to another, where the price is the same. It only changes the colour.

The thing is, and I repeat: I don't like labels, I believe that it promotes some kind of war of genders but I know we must do something about how women are portrayed, viewed (and how they see themselves), behaved and how society reacts to them. Again, is not the word used, is not how it was branded, and it's not our actions in behalf of it. It is our own close-minded views, what we consider normal and our unconscious life.

here and there #13 [under the pink or the cornflake girl]

Looking at the universe and I see everything and anything at all. I see all the lives, all those deaths. All those inevitable deaths. The hundred ones that are happening right now. The million ones that already did. And the infinite ones that are still yet to come.

And I'm watching all these babies that are born and the ones that are still only a dream. And I see all these dreams, this willing of making it happen. This sense that life needs to have a meaning and people always searching for it.

And I see it as music, a never-ending song talking about tragedies and fairy-tales, and crimes, and brokenness and solitude, and companionship and love, and hope, and happiness and everything in between.

And I am so sure: it will be written on the stars. All these beautiful, somewhat bitter-sweet stories. These stories I'd like to learn and live and feel and pass on along.

Taking part of this uniqueness...do you imagine how lucky you are? The universe gave you the lottery ticket for you to spend it just the way it pleases you. You're among the elite. Everyone is like you. You're like everyone else. And yet, we're snowflakes.

The universe, we'll never leave it. I wonder where I'll be. In a flower. In someone's heart? Pure sunlight. The breath of the wind. The shadow of the moon. In a smile...

My wonderlife will be about enjoying all these little moments. Good. Bad. Not so good and not so bad. And make of them the best they'll possibly be.

My song has to end someday, I want it to be beautiful, to make people cry and laugh at the same time, to inspire them and bring something good to their hearts. Something they can pass along as well.

here and there #11 [just one step ahead]

My dear dreamers,

This blog is feeling really lonely and I'm afraid I won't be able to post as often as I used to. Maybe one day per week or so. I'm now a volunteer/activist of The Venus Project and I'll also start to help kids with cancer.

But I have a little message for you, one that talks about my dreams and projects. Take a look:

Thanks for watching! And feel free to comment&share. :)

What are your current projects? Tell me all about it!

here and there #10 [here comes the sun]

My dream readers,

I feel lucky today. I see an opportunity in every corner. I have a new idea at every step of the way. I'll try every and each one of it and if I fail, I'll learn something, I'll change something, I'll achieve something.

Today I wanted to talk to you about Goedzak, but I'll have to pass it on to another post. I'm only craving to enjoy this feeling and transfer it to you. Sense this joy. Sight, smell, hear, taste, touch, embrace it. Make it your breathing.

Try something new today. Make a new mistake today. Learn a bit more of yourself today. (And tell me the results later.)

Have a great day,

here and there #9 [365]

My dear dreamers,

I made no resolutions for this year but I want to start new projects and finish old ones. Today, at beautiful mess, I found the 365 Project.

It seems boring to do the same thing everyday for a year, but it's also challenging and gives you the opportunity to develop a skill. I was thinking how could I participate in this and yoga is my answer. It's something I love to do but rarely have the chance to practice. With this project I hope to learn new poses, be more flexible and strong. This will be my healthy year.

As a fan of lists, here are a couple of poses I'd like to accomplish.

here and there #8 [change the question]

My dear dreamers,

via makermasters

Long break, huh? I'm writing you for the first time of this year because... it just didn't happen sooner.

But tonight I had a really weird experience. Having a dream in the third person. I was just a voyeur. I didn't know any of the characters of my dream. It was like a film. A good one, because it taught me a lesson.

And I'm sharing this with you because yesterday I received a one of a kind feedback. Some months ago I started a new project: Rules of Being Creative. It's not finished yet, but you can take a look at it here.

Rules of Being Creative is a study of my own methods in delivering a message. When I'm finished, I think it will be worthy a semantic study as well (maybe I'll write a book about it, one more to the pile).

Rule #1 is to break your own rules. But someone asked me: Why make rules if you're going to break them? It seems a suitable question, right? But then, why live if you're going to die?

Maybe rules aren't the right word. Or maybe we should change our way of thinking. Creativity has no rules, and yet could have an infinity of steps to follow.

What is creativity? I'll not search for a Wikipedia definition or look into a dictionary. Would they really answer me? I prefer to look inside. Creativity is the association of ideas. Mere thought. And where do ideas come from? It can be from movies, books, experiences. But maybe, just maybe, the most powerful are the ones we decompose, the ones we break and reconstruct. Lego is a perfect metaphor in what regards to the brain. It not only picks fragmented pieces (redundant or maybe not) of reality but it also combines them to create new worlds.

We evolve. We're not the same as we were yesterday and certainly our life tomorrow will be a bit different than it is today. And rules will follow. Or else slavery and death penalty would still exist, homosexuals will never marry and women will never be considered entirely equal to men.

We need to change the question. Why follow rules if we don't challenge them?

here and there #7 [good morning]

via pinterest

I woke up in the morning with a mug of hot coffee beside me, a sweet kiss and promises of eternity. It's like this every day, for almost ten years now, and I still don't know a better way to wake up.

However, for a long time, I wasted these first hours between sleepiness and awaking, between dreams and reality ...? Between the heat of sheets and the freshness of mind.

So many times I complained about the lack of inspiration, or having nothing to tell. Even when thoughts fought each other in order to have a bit of my attention. The constant fear of "losing my way" prevented me from facing the paper.

Many writers, famous or not, told me to write every day, when waking up. I, just now, decided to follow their advice, and, after three texts, I consider it to be an excellent practice.

Ideas jiggle around like popcorn, images arise spontaneously*. The unconscious invades my conscious part of the mind. I don't even need to think. Themes and approaches that in normal days (as if I had them) I do not remember pointing out are written in impermanent ink.

Patterns. It was the first word that I remembered when I look to my coffee. We seek them everywhere. In stars, in dregs of some drink, on the palms of every hand. And so we think we bring meaning to life. Wouldn't we'll be also usurping it, creating stereotypes? To what extent patterns even exist and to what extent can we analyze them? (Someone skilled in this matter please stand up.)

Is life pure mathematics? An organized chaos? How often will you need to test that A + B = C? Could we then live by formulas? Would self-help books become the next textbooks?

I never believed in absolute free will. We are always constrained by the books we read, the movies we envision, the music we listen to, the people around us, the places we attend, and by those other people we idolize. And even these may be indirectly chosen by us.

But I also do not trust in pre-determined solutions. In a world in black and white. At the boundary between right and wrong. If there is a formula, there is a god. And who does not want to be god?

* When you remember a story, do they also appear you in images? As if instead you had read them, it seemed you have seen a movie?

Little Blue Planet by *marklar on deviantART

We live by strategies. By tutorials. How-to's and pseudo-profound quotes. The life we live is really ours?

"Change your life in 59 seconds", "15 mandatory no-calorie food", "16 reasons not to have children," "Sex: what they want." This is the culture of  pink magazines. This is what most women read. This is what they want to become.

Asimov was already talking about robots for some reason; sometimes we just seem machines waiting for instruction. No need to create intelligent computers that think for themselves. Because even the human species failed at this point.

But I was talking about strategies. Whenever I hear these words I remember of manipulation and war. Or is it adaptation? Update? Darwin? 孙武 (Sun Tzu)? Knowing what surrounds us? Asking ourselves? Evolve?

Since we were still half-egg-half-sperm (or even earlier) that we are fragments of fragments of fragments. I am the tail of a comet. A small portion of the nebula. I have lived in the primeval soup and conquered the sky in the form of lightning.

One day I will be just part trash, part nutritive-something. I'll contribute, perhaps, for the History of mankind, but the most important narrative will have yet to be told: the fears, dreams, phobias, victories, failures, the discovery.

I'll not become nothing, I, for so long, thought I'd be. I'll be everything. Each atom will travel through infinite times and spaces. I will return to be a falling star and fulfill thousands of wishes. I'll rest in the craters of the moon and, once again, will be seduced by the charms of the little blue planet.

here and there #4 [she is me]

My dear dreamers,

If they could wake up a little then they would realise they can feel enough love coming from the grass beneath their feet to last a lifetime! S. Park

Today I wrote my thoughts:

The cold shivers throughout the house. Not even a mug of hot chocolate is able to warm her. There isn't any heaters or fireplaces. The economic crisis has already attacked the bodies of the population. The soul, that one has never been free.

Between buying and throwing away, stayed the debt which will last a life to be paid. They all adorn themselves, thinking that beauty is happiness or that it wraps itself up in gold, bright paper. That one so arduous to find.

Like the ostrich, people stuck their heads inside the television. They felt so comfortable there, they can no longer leave. They were promised fame, instantaneous happiness. As instantaneous as the chocolate she was drinking. When what they mean was 'fragmented pleasure'. Brief. Priceless. But just because it has no value at all.

Sex, lies and pimba music.* Perfect bodies in putrid minds. 0% of critical thinking.

What do they know about happiness? It doesn't come in gleaming bars or frozen packages. Not even comes in books, but even if it were nobody would read them. The little they know about happiness is because they ignore the meaning of love.

Everyone is looking for adrenaline, for the flavour of the moment and sweeping sensations. But love is not the pounding heart, or butterflies in the stomach, or even the sudden sensation of heat. Love is not physicality.

To love is to understand life. It is to surrender to life. It is ceasing to be human and become nature. It is to stop being one to be everyone. To love is to learn how to die.

here and there #3 [a part of me]

My dear dreamers,

Photobucket
via fuck yeah anaïs nin

I wanted to write this post for so long but it was hard to find the mood. In the last weeks I've been in a dark zone, no sleeping, all worries and no job done. Today, it all seemed to go away. Like magic. Or a good night of sleep.

I'm reading Anaïs Nin diary for two weeks now (the first volume I mean; 6 to go yay!). I could have ended it like in two days, if I didn't lost myself in taking notes, copying excerpts of the book and finding myself in her words. I could be called Anaïs, you know? But in Portuguese the name isn't that beautiful and my mother changed her mind.

In some ways, I feel like I'm Anaïs. She's a feminist, a dreamer, a writer. She is sensitive and a sentimentalist. She loves beauty, she loves to love. She's more than one person, she has more than one life. She's a poet. She's paradoxical. She loves life. She lives second by second. She's afraid of her true nature and that others may not understand and love it.

Here are some of her thoughts I enjoyed reading. Only some because I have already 6 A5 pages worth of sharing.

Ordinary life does not interest me. I seek only the high moments. I am in accord with the surrealists, searching for the marvelous. I want to be a writer who reminds others that these moments exist; I want to prove that there is infinite space, infinite meaning, infinite dimension. But I am not always in what I call a state of grace. I have days of illuminations and fevers. I have days when the music in my head stops. Then I mend socks, prune trees, can fruits, polish furniture. But while I am doing this I feel I am not living.

We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.

My life is slowed up by thought and the need to understand what I am living.

We don’t have a language for the senses. Feelings are images, sensations are like musical sounds.

here and there #2 [shock culture]

My dear dreamers,

Photobucket
Chongqing (重庆) via hudong

It's been a while since my last post. I wasn't counting to be away for so long. But I had an unexpected and warming visit from A., my Chinese friend which is currently studying at Portugal.

So, today, I'll talk about culture. Because her visit made me think about my life and my feelings towards others. Receiving a brand new culture in your home is not as easy as it seems. Because it's your home, your lifestyle and everything changes within a second. You start being questioned and you ask questions yourself. About you and about them. It's good.

It was a shock but it also was a turning point in my life. I never thought that receiving a friend at my home would have such an effect in me. I became more aware. Of what? I don't know, I still feel a bit confusing.

It's different when you travel. You go there, it's just yourself and an experience. You may change a bit, but your inner core is still there. You only see what you want, you only make the questions you want. You'll be fascinated by some things, feel awkward about others. But when you come back home everything is the same. You don't have to cope with that culture anymore. You go back to your old life.

Penpalling were one of the ways I found to know other cultures without leaving my room. I could travel by spending less of one euro each time until I could really put my feet out there. Now, I discovered a new way: receiving my penpals at my home, let them find their way into (the deepest of) my heart and change my world in just a couple of days.

I wanted to say much, much more. But I can't find the words. I'm still all emotion and I need to think about the last week more profoundly. I just want to thank A. for bringing her home to mine.

Tell me your stories. Has a friend turned your world upside down too?

sweet world of mine

My dear dreamers,

Next week everything we'll be back to normal and I'll write for you everyday. It's the time I need to keep everything organized and up-to-date.

You know I'm a big fan of nature. But I also enjoy to discover new cultures + new languages. It's fascinating how we're able to communicate in so many different mediums and ways. We have literature, music, fashion, voice, silence, sculpture, painting, animation, gesture, traditions, ad infinitum. We express feelings, emotions or ideas even when we don't want to.

So language is never a barrier. We can meet and talk with other people even if we don't speak a common language. We can understand ourselves no matter how different we are. Crazy, isn't it?

Today, I was looking for some Chinese culture references on Tumblr and I found a blog that made me wonder about how a collection of pictures can tell you so much about the world we live in. I saw so many faces, young and old, each one with its peculiar vestment. Each image showed a distinct tradition, a unique way of being. It's an astonishing view of what's around you. Sometimes we forget how beautiful Earth is; we're so blinded by fear that we forgot that snow is made of snowflakes. And there aren't two snowflakes alike. As there aren't two equal persons. Don't ever judge someone because she's different from you, but celebrate that uniqueness together.

Now it's time to show you the world:

It's all about being you

Hey! I'm back! Did you miss me?

So, I've a lot of news to tell you. I'm very excited to get back to this sweet home of mine and tell you what I've been doing lately. I sure missed my readers...

Today's post will be a little introspective, closing the doors of the past and open new ones to the present. I hope you'll not get bored but it's something I need to do. You'll see new changes around here (good ones) and more accordingly to the person I am today.

2012 started really well. I didn't achieve all my goals yet, but I accomplished some important things already. I'm starting to deeply know myself - I feel I'm blooming and be the person I always wanted to be. Four important things happened in my life that contributed to that and I'm very glad to be lucky enough to have this opportunity. I'm happier, healthier and smarter.

My diet is almost, almost on its end. I have the weight I desired for so long but there's still extra meat that I want to get rid off. Finally I feel good on my skin - beautiful and sexy. :)

That formation of former's course I told you about is over and I finished it successfully. I met a loads of wonderful people from every kind of backgrounds and I learnt a lot with them. I also have to say that my communication skills are much better (I worked intensively, since reading out loud while walking around the house to making silly faces on the mirror). I also feel much better when talking to a crowd. I really enjoyed giving a lesson about personal marketing in the end of the course and acknowledge that people were enjoying what I had to say. It made me feel special.

I'm still learning Mandarin and you know what? It isn't as difficult as people claim, you just need persistence and a good memory. Training every day helps you too.

As you know, I've been penpalling since December and it's a hobby I'm really enjoying. It's incredible how you can discover yourself by communicating with others and see in them a (big) part of you. I met inspiring, kind and intelligent people that taught me what confidence is all about. That was all I needed.

I also need to thank you for following me and my blog, supporting us with your comments and thoughts. It means a lot to me and I'm happy to have you in my life.

here and there #1 [I ♥ shorties]

[via nanos]

Here and there awakes in the middle of some thinking about short URL's and how to use them.

The short URL function has born in 2001 as an idea which came to reality one year after with TinyURL. Twitter adopted the system and several other similar websites to Tiny were created. Nowadays, Twitter uses bitly to shorten their URL's (since 2009).

However this function has more possibilities than just make a link shorter. I'll make a list of its utilities:

Aesthetic: a short URL is more pleasurable to look at;

Ecologic: if you'll print a document with a link on it, you'll save ink;

Memorable: few characters are easier to remember;

Statistics: you can track how many people clicked your link;

Identity: you can create a namespace with your own domain.

But, with so many URL shortening services (+90!), which one should I chose? I'd go for bitly or goo.gl. They have all the functionalities above and let you use their services in your own blog. bitly even installs a button in your browser so it's easier to use it. You don't have to type the short URL address, copy the link you desire and then shorten it. You just copy the link and there you go: a window appears with your shorten URL. They know how lazy we are.

And you, do you shorten your URLs? Will you start doing it?

Note: short URL history was taken from Wikipedia.

50 reasons not to date me

Curious Alice by ~noodlekiddo on deviantART

Hi everyone!

I'm back and it's not even August. Yeah! I do not have much to share with you right now (have to catch up with my feeds and such). But... I saw something that might please you.

I follow a very cute girl (on facebook, deviantart and her blog; yes, I'm a stalker sometimes ^-^), her name is Renata Owen and she's such a sweet illustrator! I hope someday I can innerview her.

But today I'm not here to talk about her work (maybe tomorrow ;)), but of a post of her blog: 50 reasons not to date a designer. Like her I'll put here the list and make my own comments. In red are the ones I do more often.

1. They are very weird people. // Weird, it's me, no doubt!
2. There are billions of them in the world, like colors on the screen of your computer. // That's not accurate, but... whatever.
3. They will analyse conversations in layers. // Where did that come from?
4. You will spend the day assembling furniture from IKEA. //Not only IKEA, but yeah.
5. They drink and eat all kinds of weird shit just because they like the packaging.
6. They hate each other. // We looooove each other!
7. You’ll come out the last out of the movies because you have to see the full list of credits. // And if you don't you can miss some fabulous things.
8. They cant change a light bulb or without making a sketch. // Quoting Renata: That's stupid.
9. They fuck up all the tables with their cutters.
10. They rather study the paisley pattern on your outfit than listen to what you have to say.
11. They will fill your house with magazines and whatever is out there that has drawings. // Design, design, design.
12. You never know if it is really an original or a copy.
13. They make collages with your photos.
14. They do not know how to add and subtract, they just understand letters. //Actually, we deal with numbers, rulers and grids are our best friends.
15. They idolize people who nobody knows and speak of them as if they were his colleagues. // Like David Airey, Saul Bass and Erik Spiekermann?
16. They take pictures almost daily and all are cut in weird shapes.
17. They ask your opinion about everything but they do whatever they want. // I always do that.
18. Everything is left justified, right or center unless they arrive late.
19. They hate Comic Sans with the same passion they love Helvetica. // Any doubt?
20. They use iPhone for everything, because everyone has one.
21. You can not decorate the house without consulting them.
22. They steal street signs. // I wish I had.
23. Always carry their hands painted with something.
24. They buy dolls unfinished for them to paint.
25. Everything becomes something other than what it really is: cards as tickets, cards as …
26. When arguing, you will be nicknamed like the OSX spinning wheel (not affectionately)
27. Do not know how to dress without consulting the Pantone book.
28. They hate Excel.
29. They read comics.
30. They want to save the world only with a poster. // We really can?
31. You will spend the day brainstorming. // I brainstorm for everything...
32. On vacation they will take you to countries that you do not know exist and have no beach.
33. Museums are their second home.
34. They know more positions than the Kamasutra. // That's a good reason, right?
35. They can’t go to a restaurant without secretly critiquing the menu design. //Yes, yes, yes! (no relation with the above question)
36. They listen to music you have never heard of. //There's always someone...
37. They can´t cook a normal dish, they always have to experiment with new ingredients. //I'm there.
38. They read rare books: stories of children, Semiotics … //Yeah, semiotics...
39. When you are going to tell you something, everyone has read it in their facebook and twitter.
40. They have own iPods before you knew they existed.
41. The orgasm they remember is when they heard that Adobe was acquiring Macromedia.
42. They have their own shops just for them and there are the most expensive in the city. //Getting there. :P
43. They want to spend all the money in the Apple Store.
44. You will never understand their gifts. // Hope so!
45. They see ordinary objects and laugh.
46. You wake up in the middle of the night hearing them screaming “When is the deadline?” // I dream a lot about design and get a bunch of crazy ideas, like Comics in 3D --'
47. They see CMYK and RGB like Neo sees the Matrix.
48. They dream of the day nobody will make a single change to their designs. // Welcome to Heaven!
49. They rather pay for a font than for a special birthday gift.
50. They are always sleepy because they work 24/7.

What are you numbers?

Florbela Espanca, via barcos em temporais

Maybe you don't know Florbela Espanca. She was one of the greatest female poets of all times. A friend of mine called her the Queen of Sonnets and that's so true.

One day she wrote: "Não costumo acreditar muito nos sonhos... porque de todos se acorda". In English is something like this: "I usually don't believe much in dreams... because from them all we wake up". Sometimes we have day dreams, some look very real, but in the end they're nothing. But who doesn't like to dream?

I'm saying all this because the news I was going to share with you no longer exists. It's not a good news, but I think isn't too bad either.

I can't give you sweet almonds or yummy chocolate eggs, but i can send you a hug and wish you a delicious Easter and promise you that designing dreams will return to its regular posts. Yay!
